EUROPEAN UNION

The European Union is an organization which has twenty seven members. These twenty seven countries came together in order to create an economic and politic unity. At the beginning, it was just an idea. Nowadays, it has become the most powerful economic and politic force of Europe with its’ five hundred population and its’ role in  30% of the world's gross domestic product. However, there are some important reasons and effects of European Union on the world.

The first reason of European Union was providing an economic and financial union. In order to provide same life standards among the all countries which are members of European Union, they believed that there should be unity in their policy and economy. Secondly they wanted to develop a common social awareness. They started to act together in the face of social problems. In this way social problems could be solved more easily and effectively. Thirdly they aimed to create a common security policy for the countries which was a member of European Union. Instead of fighting each other for the colonies, they thought that maintaining a unity in the military field is more effective, available and functional.
After having looked at the most common three reasons of European Union, let’s look at three most important effects.

With the help of providing an economic and financial unity, they found the easier and better way of trading. For example; they abrogated the Custom duties. Also, they started to organize international trading between these countries. Through the laws which were covering all members, European Union developed a Common Market which provided the free movement of capital, goods, human and services. The other effect of European Union is that exchanging ideas about the environment and providing security. So, people started to analyze, to argue their problems and they tried to find best way. They found immediate, reasonable, unaccustomed solutions which made them productive in solving their problems and they felt more strength, then they started to develop. The last effect is that providing the ability of travelling different countries. People found the chance of seeing different places, improving their foreign languages. They did not experience the shortage of work or worker. They met with new people and they knew each other.

That can be discussed if European Union is working for its’ purposes now. But we can be sure about that it was founded to bring people together, to provide a permanent peace on the World and to find current, common, original solutions. In other words the aim of European Union was to make the World albeit a little more livable. But nowadays it is being used just a diplomatic implement among the countries. If it is used for its’ real purposes, the real purposes will be realized.
